Self-Evaluation Speech Critique When I first changed my major from Exercise Science to Mass Communication, I recall being anxious about having to take Advanced Public Speaking. I had taken Basic Public Speaking online, but that only required me to film myself speaking and post it. The last in-person speech class I took was in high school, so it had been awhile since I had actually had to speak in front of my classmates. Because of that somewhat "limited" experience, I was very uncertain of my speaking skills as I entered this course. However, throughout this semester, I found myself becoming more and more confident in my speaking skills, more comfortable behind the podium, and more structured in my delivery. Each speech I gave pushed me out of my comfort zone, and by the end of this course, the progress I had made was evident.
